I am interested in iron in the deep-ocean. I like to think about the chemical reactions, starting with aqueous Fe(II): precipitation with S, oxidation, hydrolysis, polymerization, precipitation as Fe(III)-bearing phases. This means that I care about speciation - the specific chemical form of the Fe. I like to think about how physi-chemical processes, and the surface reactivity of Fe-bearing minerals, are affected by (bio)organic chemical processes. I'd like our review to address hydrothermal Fe fluxes, pools, near vent cycling, and away-from-vent transport with emphasis on speciation.
